The following are terms in the pet cremation industry. Please be aware that terms similar to these can be used in the industry but mean something entirely different than what is assumed by the consumer. Descriptions are as follows:

Bury your pet at your home: You may take your pet home and bury it in your backyard or in a special place where your pet loved to run and play. This option can be very comforting to some pet owners but for others this is not a viable option.

Private pet burial in a pet cemetery: Defined as the placement of a pet's body into an air and watertight casket, followed by the internment of the casket in a private grave at a deed restricted pet cemetery where the family does have visitation rights.

Private pet cremation: Defined as one pet's body placed alone into the cremation chamber. After the cremation process is completed, all cremated remains of your pet are completely removed from the chamber before any other pet's cremation can begin.

Memorial pet cremation: Defined as multiple pets (a maximum of 10) in the crematory at the same time. With this process the cremated remains of all pets will co-mingle. Because of this, no cremated remains will be returned to the family.
To qualify as a memorial pet cremation, all cremated remains of pet's cremated in this manner must be placed in a verifiable location with the pet's name and the family's last name posted at the location on a permanent memorial, and the property where the cremated remains are interred must be deed restricted and protected from any development except for formal burial or internment of pet's cremated remains.

Communal cremation/disposal: Defined as many pets cremated together. When the incineration is completed, the remains are disposed of in the most economical way available; i.e., landfill, spread over farm fields, etc.
