It is very important that pet owners do not assume how the cremation will be handled. We must be given a written agreement for a private cremation or a third-party cremation, which outlines all-important facts regarding the cremation of our pets.
Most pet owners trust the person who is arranging or providing these services for them, but there have been instances of fraud even with human cremations. If dishonesty can happen in the human cremation industry where there are laws to protect families, you can be sure this is happening in the pet cremation industry where there are no laws to protect families or their pets. There are two ways to verify a private pet cremation was performed correctly! Family attended private pet cremation: By attending a private pet cremation, the cremation procedure will be explained to you and any questions you have will be answered prior to the cremation beginning. The crematory door will be open so you can witness that the cremation chamber is clean before your pet's body is placed in the chamber. At no time will you see the actual cremation process unless you specifically ask to do so. Once the cremation process is completed, you will be asked if you want to witness the removal of the cremated remains from the cremation chamber. After removal of the cremated remains from the chamber, they will be processed and placed into an urn and returned to you. OR Certified private pet cremation: |
